Research Institute

Walai Rukhavej Botanical Research institute is dedicated to the
fundamental and applied research of science and technology in
integration with the local wisdom. The ultimate goal is to conserve
biological resources and improve the quality of life of rural
communities. Main responsibilities of the institute include conserving,
promoting, and documenting natural ecosystems and biodiversity
within the Greater Mekong Sub-region. The institute also focuses on
setting up the database of biological resources and local wisdom
so as to promote sustainable community development and the
network between public and private sectors. Additionally, the
institute emphasizes on publication of biotechnological research
highly relevant to conservation and utilization of native plants as well
as local products.
