Ban Kerng Research Station
Ban Kerng Research station is located in Kud Dang (Oxbow Lake), Ban Kerng
village, Kerng Sub-district, Mueang District, Maha Sarakham, on a 106-acre
plot of land. It includes:
1. Freshwater Ecology Center: located near the Chi River (called Kud
Dang), where many wild fish species are found year-’round. This centre
provides the institute with good opportunity to study the freshwater
ecology which helps students and the general public to understand better
and improve knowledge on the related aspects of modern sustainable
living.
2. Wetland Forest (called Bung-Tam Forest in Isaan): Ban Kerng
Research Station is flooded during the rainy season. Each year, the flood
remains for about 3 months from September to November, an important
environmental factor promoting the ecosystem called Bung-Tam Forest.
Many floral and faunal species are found within this wetland ecosystem.
