Art and Culture
The Research Institute of Northeastern
Art and Culture (RINAC) is four
stories high, and contains many
original Isaan artifacts and exhibits of
traditional Isaan ways of life and
culture. RINAC forms the basis of the
MSU Faculty of Cultural Science which
offers courses and degrees
specializing in Isaan beliefs, arts,
traditions and folk knowledge.
Exhibition of Ancient Documents
On display here are ancient documents,
especially palm leaf documents found in
the Isaan region. The ancient documents
here have been conserved and
transformed to formats that enable
publications and books for students and
people who are interested in ancient
documents. Visitors will also see and learn
about methods to write and read ancient
documents.
Exhibition of Textiles
Textiles exhibited here reflect Isaan’s
many weaving cultures and their unique
local processes and patterns. Isaan
clothing and dress are displayed as well
as a piece of woven fabrics with over 200
original Isaan textile patterns called “Pa
Seaw”. Visitors will also learn about other
uses of Isaan textiles.
